New support service: Add destinations and arrival categories at scale
February 19, 2025
This week, we're launching a support service to create destination POIs and arrival categories for your guidebooks at scale. This will reduce your manual workload in order to benefit from our new personalized accommodation feature with automated day/stage category matching.
How to add arrival categories for multiple guidebooks
Submit your request Open a support ticket with a request to add arrival day/stage categories.
Specify guidebooks In your ticket provide the name of your destination library and provide either:
A list of specific guidebook internal IDs that need arrival categories, or
Simply write "all" to apply this to every guidebook in your account.
What GUIBO will do
Create a new arrival day/stage category as the first category.
Add a destination POI at the start of the first route in the second category.
In case such a destination POI already exists nearby anywhere in the guidebook, GUIBO will move it to the current category instead of creating a new one.

What GUIBO will do
For all categories without any destination POI, GUIBO will try to add a destination based on a complex algorithm analyzing the routes within the guidebook.
In case such a destination POI already exists nearby anywhere in the guidebook, GUIBO will move it to the current category instead of creating a new one.
GUIBO will provide you a list with all categories where it is not possible to create destinations algorithmically (e.g. missing transfer route within category).
Personalized Accommodation for Season 2025
January 17, 2025 (updated February 13, 2025)
We're excited to announce new personalization features coming to the GUIBO Tour Guide App, along with integration details to help you prepare your booking system for the 2025 season.
Travelers want to know exactly what to expect from their accommodation, both before and during their trip. That's why we've enhanced the GUIBO Tour Guide App to provide more detailed information about accommodation and trip dates.
What exactly is personalized accommodation?
When creating a release in GUIBO, you can add booking related information to accommodation POIs:
arrival date: The arrival date for this accommodation
departure date: The departure date for this accommodation
comment: Any booking specific comments (e.g. breakfast included, 3 adults)
What does this look like in the app?
There will be an updated app interface in the coming weeks:
New prominent button "accommodation" at the top of the home screen with an overview list for all accommodations including arrival and departure dates
Optional: start & end accommodation POI as part of each day/stage category
Automated day/stage category mapping
In case you want your hotels to be placed as start & end accommodation within the day/stage categories, you must ensure:
Each day/stage category has a destination POI (Add POI → Display → Icon → destination)
There is a day/stage category for the arrival day with a destination
This is required to minimize data integration costs and to allow for automated release generation, even for hotel variations and non-standard bookings (e.g. additional nights). Based on the distance to the destination POIs (< 5km), GUIBO assigns all start & end accommodation POIs to the right day/stage category.
Update API-Integration
1. Release arrival and departure dates
Update your API integration to include booking dates for the overall trip when creating releases:
2. Accommodation details
Provide the arrival date, departure date as well as any comment or description along with the accommodation POI as follows.
